A Life With Breath provides the reader with an explanation on how and why breathing is so essential to our health and well-being. Armed with new scientific research and knowledge, we begin to provide tools and strategies for mindfully breathing throughout the day. The reader learns a breathing practice and mindfulness practice daily to start them on the road of living a “life with breath.” The breathing exercises in the book begin retraining the body with healthful breathing rates and patterns strengthening the parasympathetic nervous system, diaphragm muscle, phrenic nerve, vagus nerve along with communication between the heart and brain.
Did you know that neurons that fire together, wire together? Neurons fire together based on sustained attention. Whatever your thoughts, you begin to wire the brain for those thoughts. If your thoughts are based in pain, you wire the brain to experience pain. If they're based in anger, fear, lack, etc., that's how you wire the brain to think, feel and react. By incorporating a breathing practice, we calm the body/mind to incorporate the awareness exercise. This affords us the opportunity to explore thoughts, emotions and behaviors we’d like to transform into habits that support our truest sense of self. This is the work of neuroplasticity.
