What Is the Life With Breath Philosophy?

Life With Breath is Ed Harrold's philosophy that breath is the doorway to presence, stillness, flow, and ultimately a life well lived. Developed over 30 years of teaching and first published in his book Life With Breath IQ + EQ = NEW YOU, it moves beyond teaching people how to breathe toward helping them learn how to live.

The philosophy rests on a simple sequence. Breath is the doorway. Presence is the practice. Stillness is the power. Flow is the experience. A life well lived is the result.

Where the Philosophy Began: Mile Seventeen

In 1994, Ed Harrold swam the Around the Island Swim, a 22.5 mile ocean and bay marathon circling Atlantic City. Around mile seventeen, something shifted. "Something took over me, or should I say something let go of me: my ego." He swam the final five and a half miles faster than he had ever swum in his life. Athletes call that state flow. Ed spent the next three decades learning how conscious breathing opens the door to it deliberately.

The Six Pillars

Breath: Learn the Tool. Presence: Return to the Moment. Nature: Remember Your Rhythm. Movement: Express Life Through the Body. Performance: Bring Your Best to Whatever You're Doing. Longevity: Continue Becoming Who You Truly Are.

The Inner Journey and the Outer Journey

The Inner Journey: You breathe and become present. You pause and discover stillness. You allow and enter flow. The Outer Journey: You move, expressing life through the body. You perform, bringing your best. You live, and you Go BE Great.
